Care Guide: Recycled Polyester
At Nique, we value longevity and purposeful design. For styles requiring lasting pleats and sculptural shape, we use recycled polyester, the most responsible option available for maintaining permanent structure while reducing reliance on virgin fibres.

Recycled polyester is made from post-consumer waste, giving existing materials a new life. It allows us to create architectural pleats and structured surfaces that stay intact over time, something that natural fibres alone cannot achieve. This approach lets us maintain design integrity while remaining true to our commitment to responsible production.
FABRICS WE USE
RECYCLED POLYESTER CHIFFON
Used in our Juno and Vara shirts, this lightweight recycled polyester chiffon provides the precise pleating and fluid drape these designs are known for. The material retains its folds permanently, holding the garment’s sculptural form through years of wear.
Our recycled polyester is produced from post-consumer plastic bottles and industrial waste, diverting them from landfill and reducing dependence on virgin materials. It’s a responsible solution that balances beauty, longevity, and environmental care.
Care Tip: Cold hand wash or gentle machine wash inside out in a garment bag. Hang to dry immediately. Do not iron or press pleats, a light steam from a distance will refresh and relax the fabric without loss of structure.
GARMENT CARE
Our recycled polyester pieces are designed for ease and longevity. Their pleats and silhouettes are permanently set and require little maintenance. With simple care, you can preserve the garment’s clean lines and delicate surface finish.
- Air between wears to refresh and reduce unnecessary washing.
- Cold gentle wash in a garment bag to protect the pleats.
- Hang to dry immediately to maintain the garment’s form.
- Do not iron directly — use gentle steam only if needed.
- Store hanging to prevent creasing or distortion.
WHY CARE MATTERS
Pleated garments require a fibre that can permanently hold shape — a property that natural fibres cannot provide. By choosing recycled polyester, we’re able to create long-lasting pleats while avoiding virgin plastic. Each piece reflects our belief in balancing aesthetics with sustainability, extending the lifespan of existing materials through thoughtful design.
