A Closer Look | How We Design Knitwear at Nique

At Nique, knitwear isn’t an afterthought. It’s one of our favourites. Every piece begins in our studio with sketchbooks full of ideas, fabric swatches, and countless conversations around yarn, silhouette, and longevity. This is a rare glimpse into how our knitwear collections come to life, from concept to craft.

Every piece starts on paper. Our design team begins with shape and proportion, thinking about how a knit will sit on the body, how it moves, and how it will layer. Pictured above: early sketches of key pieces from this season’s knitwear capsule. Each drawing is a conversation between form and function.

Our yarn choices are as intentional as our designs. We work exclusively with high quality natural fibres like merino wool, cotton blends, and certified yarns chosen for both feel and function. Sustainability guides our sourcing. We favour traceable, low impact yarns that wear beautifully over time and reduce waste in the process. Handfeel, weight, and quality. Nothing makes it into a Nique knit without being tested for all three.

We design with the wearer in mind. That means knits that hold their shape, flatter every body, and pair back with ease. Whether it’s a cocooned roll neck or a boxy, ribbed cardigan, each Nique knit is made to fit seamlessly into your everyday rotation. Elevating your uniform without asking for attention.
